Originating of the Mediterranean Region as a cross between a Water Spaniel and a Standard Poodle, the Bichon Frise has, due in part to its pleasant disposition, always been popular. Translated from French, Bichon Frise means "curly lap dog". The Bichon Frise has something of a storied past, a popular companion for sailors, the breed was actually used a barter currency, helping to grow its popularity worldwide. Perennially popular, the Bichon Frise is friend to people and pets alike.
