Rhodesian Ridgeback
Originating of Zimbabwe in South Africa, the Rhodesian Ridgeback was bred as a tenacious, solidly built, agile hunting dog. With a distinctive ridge of hair running in a dagger shape down its back the Rhodesian Ridgeback was also known as the African Lion Dog or African Lion Hound for its ability to keep a lion at bay while awaiting a hunter's arrival to make his kill. A high, instinctive prey drive or penchant for hunting things makes the Rhodesian Ridgeback best suited to a single pet home.
