Dachshund

Originating of Germany, the Dachshund, also known as a "wiener dog" was bred as a hunting dog specifically for burrowing quarry such as badgers, fox and rabbits, which helps to explain their proportionately long bodies. With the advent of World War II, Dachschund ownership plummeted throughout North America but has since recovered making the Dachshund one of the most popular dogs in North America and the perfect condo-dweller. The Dachshund can be either short or long-haired.
