Maltese

Originating of the Mediterranean region, the Maltese is believed originated of either Sicily (Melita) or Malta. A small dog bred for size, the Maltese is thought to have been initially bred as a vermin population control but based on size, look and temperament quickly graduated to revered and popular companion pet. Maltese come in one color, white. LIke many small breed dogs, the Maltese bonds primarily with its owner and may at times be fiercely, if not overly, protective.
