Pomeranian

A miniaturized version of the Spitz breeds of Europe, the Pomeranian is a small toy dog with an abundance of fur, which is why they are also called Pompoms. (It is also believed due to their place of origin, Pomerania, between what is now Poland and Germany.) Popular in North America, the Pomeranian is devoted, however as with most small breeds of dog, can be overly protective of its primary caregiver making it somewhat more suited to an adult household or household with older children.
