Originating of France and a relatively modern dog resulting of breeding "too small" English Bulldogs transported to France and bred with French "ratting" dogs, the French Bulldog or Frenchie is known as "Bouledogue Francais" a Francized English name in its native country. French Bulldogs remain infinitely popular today and rank among the ten most popular dogs in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
