Yorkshire Terrier

As with Terriers in general, the Yorkshire Terrier, also known as the Yorkie was bred as a ratting dog and originated of the United Kingdom where it was more commonly employed for vermin control in textile and garment factories. Typical of Terriers, you can expect a spirited, engaged, occasionally demanding pet. As with many small dog breeds, the Yorkshire Terrier can become overly protective of its owner and tends to devote its affection to one specific person.
