Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

As playful as it is cheerful and affectionate, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel originated of the United Kingdom and was bred as a hunting dog capable of keeping pace with a trotting horse. Primarily a companion animal given the moniker "Comforter Spaniel" as it was often found on the lap of a noble woman to help provide warmth, the breed was named after King Charles II. With a name like a King Charles Spaniel, it is not hard to understand that the breed was a favorite of royal households.
