Greyhound

Originating of the United Kingdom and the quintessential racing dog, the Greyhound is distinctive, slender, graceful, loyal and intelligent. Gifted with keen sight and speed, Greyhounds were initially bred as a hunting dog in open fields, giving chase to prey including rabbits or hare. The Greyhound can reach speeds of up to 40 MPH, comparable to a horse at a full run. In spite of its speed, the Greyhound is not a particularly active breed, tending towards shorter bursts rather than endurance.
