Solid of build, the Pit Bull Terrier or American Pit Bull Terrier while popularized as a breed in the United States originates of the United Kingdom. Early breeding was specific to creating a "blood sport" animal, capable of holding its own against bulls and bears and pitted against other Pit Bull Terriers. Their inherent aggression has led to legislation throughout the world including outright bans in some places. Well-trained from a very young age, Pit Bull Terriers can be good family pets.
