Rat Terrier

Considered something of a rarity and originating of the farms of the United States and an active, lively breed, the Rat Terrier was originally bred as a "ratting" dog meant to control vermin populations around stables and homesteads. In spite of referring to more of a type of dog versus a true breed of dog, the Rat Terrier is recognized by the AKC. As with most Terrier breeds, the Rat Terrier is an active, curious dog, friendly with pets and people and should be trained well from a young age.
