Originating of Ireland and also known as the Irish Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier, the hypoallergenic Wheaten Terrier is a hunter, originally bred not only to catch rats, but otters, badgers and fox as well. In early days, Wheaten Terriers were owned exclusively by nobility and royalty. A gentle disposition has seen the Wheaten Terrier serve as a service animal for PTSD and elder care and companionship in the modern era.
